This is one of those magical activities that ticks all the boxes - it’s quick to prep (+ additional freezing time), gets your child involved, encourages fine motor skills and independence, and ends with a snack they’re excited about.
Spread some yoghurt on a tray, then let your little one sprinkle on their toppings - fruit, seeds, crushed cereal, coconut, granola, choc chips, anything you’ve got. Pop it in the freezer and in a couple of hours, you’ll have a chilly treat ready to go.
It’s...
Line a tray or shallow container with baking paper. (Try not to skip this step or you'll have trouble taking it out later!)
Spread yoghurt evenly across the surface (about 1cm thick).
Set out small bowls of toppings for your child to sprinkle.
Let your child decorate the yoghurt surface however they like.
Place the tray in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
Once frozen, remove and break or cut into bark pieces. Enjoy together!
Colour swirl fun: Swirl a bit of berry puree or natural food dye through the yoghurt before freezing for a marbled effect.
Shape play: Pour the mixture into silicone moulds (like stars or hearts) instead of a tray.
Texture talk: Explore textures together - how it feels to spread the yoghurt, sprinkle toppings, and how it changes once frozen.
