Sticker balloon
An easy fine motor activity that turns into active play
This one isn't only so ridiculously quick to set up and clean up, it also uses simple items and is so versatile when it comes to play time.
Want to strengthen those fingers and fine motor skills? Peeling and sticking stickers is a great activity for that. Use stickers that match their current interests to boost engagement.
Do they need to get their wiggles out by chasing a balloon around and playing Keepy Uppy around the house (search for "balloon" for more ideas!)? This ticks that box...
Materials
Prep
Blow up a balloon and put some stickers next to it. Stick 1 or 2 stickers on for a simple balloon-decorating play invitation.
Play
Step 1:
Have your little one peel and stick the stickers on the balloon.
Step 2:
Play with the balloon!
Extend
Dot match: Draw some dots on with markers for them to pop the stickers on. Make patterns or colour match!
Volley-balloon: Make a line on the floor with stickers to be your "volleyball net" and take turns hitting the balloon over it to each other
Animals and faces: Prompt them to make their balloons look like different animals or faces that match their interests. E.g. stripes for a zebra, spots for leopards.
