There’s something so satisfying about peeling off tape to reveal a surprise pattern - and this one is no exception. Just grab some painter’s tape or masking tape and head outside to create your own chalk mosaic on the pavement.
Kids can help place tape in random lines to form shapes or sections, then colour them in with chalk. Once they’re done, peeling off the tape reveals a gorgeous patchwork effect that feels like magic.
It’s a low-prep activity that encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and colour exploration - and looks beautiful too!
Use tape to create geometric shapes, sections or patterns on the ground.
Make sure the tape is pressed down firmly so the chalk doesn’t smudge underneath.
Let kids colour in each section using different chalk colours.
When all the spaces are filled in, slowly peel off the tape to reveal your mosaic.
Name art: Use tape to spell out your child’s name and let them colour around it.
Pretend playground: Add their favourite figurines or cars and let them create a small world with their new creation
Water wipe reveal: After play, give them a paintbrush and water to “erase” sections and create new shapes.
